Oh, We’re Rockin’ Now!

Standard

Let’s rock ‘n’ roll, kiddies! I’ve got two major publishing milestones happening to-day, and I can’t wait to tell you all about them!

What’s going on? Well, I’ll tell you! Read the rest of this entry

Thief! J’accuse!

Standard

Good gravy! Today I learned that an icon, someone we all look up to for her strength, pluckiness, perseverance, and belief in true love is a doggone thief. J’accuse! I have a book to write, but I must get this out or it will eat at me for the rest of my days. Or at least until I have another cup of coffee. Read the rest of this entry

Virtual Beach Trip: Safer and Cheaper!

Trying times, my friends. Trying times. Has your vacation been postponed? Are you stuck in the house with screaming kids? (Wait—is that you screaming instead?) Well, fear not. I have the perfect, inexpensive escape for you! Read the rest of this entry

Hey Now, What’s Old Is New Again!

Gather ’round, kids—it’s story time! Once upon a time, in another world, Jayne quit her full-time associate editor job at a university to become a stay-at-home mom. She did some freelance editing and writing, but when her main clients folded, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to rebuild and carry on. Some weird guy, now known as the wasband, made a suggestion. And Yet Here It Is

Standard

This is not the best time for it, of course—to release a book (in this case, rerelease) and shout about it, all happy-like. While the world burns? How does one dare? And for a romantic comedy, of all things!

I’d rather not dare, not gonna lie. Or, rather, I desperately wish these were better times, more in accordance with a message like “Hey, are you going on vacation? Want a great beach read? Have I got a romcom for you!”

Well, this is not that summer. We have a lot of business to take care of, and take care of it we shall. Wrongs need to be righted, the poison of racism needs to be excised from the entrenched norms of our society, and a literal pestilence needs to be eradicated. We can do this. We can and we will. If you’re not certain, these 40 seconds might be worth a watch:

And if you need a break, it’s okay to take one. If you enjoy reading romantic comedies, maybe you’ll want to pick up YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND. It’s only $3.99 for Kindle, and it’s in Kindle Unlimited as well. It’s light, it’s happy, it takes place in a beach town. So if this is not the year for summer vacations, you can take one virtually. Read more here, and there’s a buy link as well.

Okay, that should do it for now. I’ll have more news as the summer goes on. Keeping everyone in my thoughts till then. ❤️

So This Happened…

Standard

Guess what? Guess what? No, wait—you’ll never guess. But go ahead and try! …Give up? Okay, I’ll tell you. It’s this:

Your New Best Friend

Isn’t it pretty?! Yer darn tootin’ it is!

So here’s the story: I’ve signed with Gemma Halliday Publishing for my sixth romcom, Your New Best Friend, which will be publishing this summer! Stay tuned for updates! In the meantime, here’s a little something about it:

Your New Best Friend

Jane Austen’s Emma made a habit of meddling in other people’s lives, but Melanie Abbott has turned it into a cottage industry.

As “modern American royalty” living in Abbott’s Bay, Massachusetts, a town founded by her ancestor, Melanie Abbott feels it’s her right—even her duty—to employ her uncanny knack for knowing exactly what everyone needs to improve their lives. She eagerly shares her wisdom and insight with her friends and neighbors…whether they ask for it or not. If only Conn Garvey, her dearest friend, agreed with her.

Connacht Garvey has been keeping an eye on Melanie since they were kids. A bit older, far more level-headed, and infinitely patient, Conn feels it’s his duty to pull Melanie back from whatever cliff’s edge she’s about to wander off. Conn thinks Melanie is egotistical, self-centered, irritating, infuriating, relentless, ridiculous…and irresistible. Not that Conn’s confessed to that last one. Yet.

When Melanie impulsively starts up a new advice-giving business, it’s an instant hit. Conn doesn’t approve, as usual, which is too bad, because Melanie’s convinced he needs her VIP package. (Of advice!) His coffeehouse is showing signs of financial trouble, plus his toxic ex is suddenly sniffing around, acting like she’s having second thoughts about their breakup. Will their friendship be blown to bits because of Melanie’s meddling…or will it become something more?

Meet My Feline Overlord

Standard

So the Happy Ever After blog at USAToday has this nifty little series going called “Authors and Their Pets.” I would have named it “Authors and Their Masters,” but hey, whatever we need to believe that lets us sleep at night, you know?

Anyway, I was honored to have the opportunity to talk about my feline overlord, Jasmine, this week. She’s one heck of a taskmaster, even though she’s an old lady (19). Plus I talk a little bit about Jordan, the main character of my latest romcom, Lucky for You (Marsden 3), who adopts stray cats…a little too zealously. Head on over to my little piece at USAToday‘s HEA to find out more!

Twenty-four hours!

Or, to paraphrase Ralphie’s Old Man in A Christmas Story, “Tomorrow, tomorrow! Hot damn, tomorrow!” (Hey, better that than the infernal Annie earworm, no?)

Anyway. I had a point—that my fifth book baby, and the third in my small-town rom-com Marsden trilogy, Lucky for You, will be available tomorrow, August 18! It’s in all digital formats—Kindle, Nook, Kobo, iBooks, Google Books—so fire up you favorite e-reader and grab a copy!

Here’s a little bit of way-too-feisty main character Jordan keeping poor Will off balance. See you tomorrow!
