Thief! J’accuse!

Standard

Good gravy! Today I learned that an icon, someone we all look up to for her strength, pluckiness, perseverance, and belief in true love is a doggone thief. J’accuse! I have a book to write, but I must get this out or it will eat at me for the rest of my days. Or at least until I have another cup of coffee. Read the rest of this entry

Hey Now, What’s Old Is New Again!

Gather ’round, kids—it’s story time! Once upon a time, in another world, Jayne quit her full-time associate editor job at a university to become a stay-at-home mom. She did some freelance editing and writing, but when her main clients folded, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to rebuild and carry on. Some weird guy, now known as the wasband, made a suggestion. And Yet Here It Is

Standard

This is not the best time for it, of course—to release a book (in this case, rerelease) and shout about it, all happy-like. While the world burns? How does one dare? And for a romantic comedy, of all things!

I’d rather not dare, not gonna lie. Or, rather, I desperately wish these were better times, more in accordance with a message like “Hey, are you going on vacation? Want a great beach read? Have I got a romcom for you!”

Well, this is not that summer. We have a lot of business to take care of, and take care of it we shall. Wrongs need to be righted, the poison of racism needs to be excised from the entrenched norms of our society, and a literal pestilence needs to be eradicated. We can do this. We can and we will. If you’re not certain, these 40 seconds might be worth a watch:

And if you need a break, it’s okay to take one. If you enjoy reading romantic comedies, maybe you’ll want to pick up YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND. It’s only $3.99 for Kindle, and it’s in Kindle Unlimited as well. It’s light, it’s happy, it takes place in a beach town. So if this is not the year for summer vacations, you can take one virtually. Read more here, and there’s a buy link as well.

Okay, that should do it for now. I’ll have more news as the summer goes on. Keeping everyone in my thoughts till then. ❤️

Things The Pandemic Has Taught Me

Standard

So. Here I am, staying home, because I am in the most staying-homest of states (New York) and my day job is about as non-essential as it gets. (I am an outside vendor for retail stores, and my product is far, far from a life-or-death necessity.) What is a writer to do with all this time? Why, write the romcoms, of course. Am I writing said romcoms? A little. Less than I’d thought. I have learned things, though, and writing a blog entry is at least a nod toward the great challenge of Writing Things. So here’s what I have learned about myself and my world during the pandemic, starting with the most obvious and yet the most dismaying revelation: Read the rest of this entry
